If you are looking for the best way to deal with a missing tooth, consider a dental implant from Dr. James R. Harold. Implants preserve mouth and bite function, prevent bone atrophy and provide peerless, aesthetic beauty.

A dental implant is a small titanium post that is surgically inserted into your jawbone. Over time, your jawbone bonds with the implant, establishing a stable root foundation for the proper restoration. Implants can act as artificial roots for a single tooth, as anchors for an appliance that replaces multiple teeth, or as a foundation for dentures. They are the most advanced tooth replacement system available to modern dentistry.

Implants offer so many benefits that we simply can't list them all here. A few of the most notable are:

  • A proven success rate and longevity far superior to any other restoration.
  • A conservative procedure that requires no removal of adjacent tooth structure.
  • Long-term preservation of your jawbone, teeth and gums.
  • Fully restored bite pressure equal to your natural teeth.
  • No worry about future decay or the necessity of a root canal.

Call our outstanding Raleigh dental team today to prevent your teeth from shifting, restore full mouth function and maintain your beautiful smile.

How Does the Implant Procedure Work?

The implant procedure is a dual-phase process that requires both surgical and restorative components. Raleigh dentist James R. Harold partners with an oral surgeon who conducts the first phase: inserting the implant. Depending on the characteristics of your mouth, the oral surgeon can use three different types of dental implants: "Root Form", "Plate Form" or "Subperiosteal".

Depending on your overall oral and body health, the implant will gradually bond to your jawbone. The process usually takes about 3-6 months. Once the healing is done and the implant is secure, Dr. Harold places a post on the implant upon which your final restoration (typically a bridge, crown or denture) is supported.

Dr. Harold prefers to use LAVA and Zirconia restorations for their proven strength in chewing areas and Empress restorations for areas where maximum cosmetic beauty is needed. These restorations are crafted by talented ceramists at our LVI-accredited cosmetic laboratory. We also provide soothing, calming oral medication and Oraquix topical anesthetic to ensure that you remain comfortable during the entire implant procedure.

"We have seen patients that have endured pain for more than 20 years be relieved of that same pain in less than 24 hours. The very first change they notice is how much better they sleep. Being well-rested improves their quality of life and their attitude - and that positively enhances their family relationships too." - Raleigh dentist, Dr. James R. Harold
