Fibromyalgia syndrome is a common rheumatoid disorder of the muscles and bones of the body that does NOT involve the joints. The exact cause is not known but we do know that it effects women to a higher degree than men.
A diagnosis of Fibromyalgia is made on symptoms and history of “tender points” in 11 or more of the 18 specified predetermined sites throughout the body. Keep in mind that fibromyalgia is NOT a masticatory muscle pain and is felt to have a genetic predisposition.
